불특정 다수의 대중을 대상으로 하는 예술매체인 영화는 동시에 소비매체이기도 한 까닭에 대중의 요구와 특정 사회적 변화에 특히 민감하게 반응할 수밖에 없는 “사회적 생산물”이기도 하다. 이러한 관점에 주목하면 한국영화사와 함께 하나의 고유 장르로 발전해 온 “분쟁영화”가 갖는 중요성과 독특함이 더욱 분명해진다. “분단”이라는 소재는 1950년 한국전쟁 이후부터 현재에 이르기까지 한국영화에서 자주 등장하는 소재로 발전해 왔다. 이처럼 분단이라는 역사적인 상황 속에서 하나의 독립적인 장르로 성장 및 발전한 “분쟁영화”는 사회 각 분야들로부터 영향을 받으며 한국 사회가 분단과 북한사회를 바라보는 시각변화를 민감하게 조명하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 우선 한국의 분단 상황과 북한과의 관계를 다룬 영화들을 분쟁영화로 정의했다. 한국 분쟁영화는 북한과의 정치적 및 사회문화적인 상황변화와 밀접한 연관관계 속에 있기 때문에 한국전쟁 이후 한국영화사의 발전과 함께 성장 및 발전한 영화장르인 분쟁영화는 영화를 제작하고 만드는 감독들의 세대에 따라 직간접적으로 남북분단 상황에 대한 시각과 영화적 묘사가 다양하게 변화해왔다. 이처럼 정치사회적 변화에 민감하게 반응하는 장르라는 점에 주목해 볼 때 전통적인 분쟁영화의 소재였던 남북갈등과 전쟁 등의 소재에서 탈피해 2000년도 중 후반부터 북한사회 고발과 탈북자문제가 새로운 분쟁영화의 주요 소재로 떠오른 점은 또 다른 현실투영이라는 점에서 눈길을 끈다. 최근 5년 내에 제작된 한국영화들이 북한과 분단이라는 소재를 다루는 방식이 어떻게 변화했는지를 분석하기 위해 본문에서는 새로운 소재등장에 대한 사회적 원인을 비롯한 2000년대 후반 분쟁영화의 변화에 대해 살펴보았다. 그리고 주요 분석대상으로 선정한 총 5편의 영화를 2000년 후반 이후 분쟁영화의 주요 소재로 떠오른 북한 사회와 탈북이라는 두 개의 주제로 나누어 분석했다. 이들 영화들 속 등장하는 인물들과 주요갈등구조 그리고 장소들을 세부 분석대상으로 선정해 2000년 후반 이후 현실적인 사회문제로 등장한 북한의 생활환경과 북한 탈북자들의 영화 속 표현방식을 살펴보았다.
Abstract
Films are a kind of mass piece of art, it becomes clear which role conflict films play in the South Korean film history. After Korea War in 1950 the theme "division" was often treated and is still mentioned frequently. As an independent film genre, conflict films developed in close connection with the land division and history shows again and again the importance of this issue in the society and the strong influence on the different areas of the country. In this analysis conflict films mean films that make the issue of the divide of the country and the relationship to North Korea the topic of the film. The Korean conflict films have a close relationship with this political situation and the portrayal and theme of North Korea are presented in different ways by different generations of film makers. After the Korean War in the year 1950 the topic of the division of the country was often portrayed and still is until today. In this work five example films are chosen and analysed from the perspective of how the current social problems since the end of 2000, arising due to the situation of the country being divided into South- and North Korea, are represented. The focus is on the life conditions in North Korea and that of the North Korean refugees in the South Korean films. Thereby, it is examined how the film aspects have changed North Korea and the country, the „physical reality“.
