이 논문은 1963년부터 1967년까지 한국 청춘영화 장르의 형성과 유행이 일본영화 시나리오의 표절과 모방 제작에 근원한 것임을 밝혔다. 당대 청년 관객을 집결시킨 한국 청춘영화의 장르적 매력은 서구 청춘문화를 한국영화로 수용해낸 것이었는데, 이는 사실 한국영화계의 현실적인 레퍼런스였던 일본영화 시나리오의 번안 그리고 감독의 시청각적 영화화 작업에 기반한 것이었다. 본 논문은 이를 ‘번안청춘영화’라는 장르로 규정해 역사화했다. 또한 청춘영화 장르의 쇠퇴기를 장식한 1967년작 <폭풍의 사나이>와 원작 일본영화인 1957년작 <폭풍우를 부르는 사나이>를 비교 분석해, 번안청춘영화의 제작 양상과 한국화된 텍스트의 특징을 실증적으로 고찰했다.
Abstract
This article argues that the formation of the genre of South Korean youth films from 1963 to 1967 stems from the plagiarism and mimicry of Japanese screenplays. The genre appeal of the youth films that attracted young audiences in the 1960s was the incorporation of Western youth culture into Korean cinema. This was possible based on the adaptation of Japanese screenplays, which served as a practical reference in the Korean film industry. In addition, Korean directors achieved visual transformation of these screenplays into films. This article categorizes this phenomenon as the genre of youth film adaptations and places it in a historical context. Furthermore, by conducting a comparative analysis of the 1967 film A Man of Windstorm, representing the decline of the youth film genre, and its original Japanese film counterpart, Man Who Causes a Storm (1957), this article empirically explores the production trends of youth film adaptations and the characteristics of Koreanized texts.
