Abstract
The need for academic intervention for elementary school students with severe and multiple disabilities has been recognized for a long time. However, due to the wide variety of information on academic interventions and underestimation of student academic competence, academic interventions are not actively fulfilled. Therefore, this study aims to examine the intervention effects of single-subject studies abroad for practical application in the educational scene to improve the learning ability of elementary school students with severe and multiple. To examine the researches, 7 selection and exclusion criteria were set and finally 3 researched were selected as subjects for analysis. A total of 12 academic-related cases were found in the selected researches, and the intervention effect was calculated using the non-overlapping ratio method. As a result, the effect size according to the subject’s characteristics was examined by gender, age, disability characteristics and communication characteristics. The difference by each variable did not show any significant difference in all variables except age. As a result of examining the effect size on independent variables, dependent variables, and interventionist, the reading comprehension variable, which is the most difficult task in dependent variables, was relatively lower than other variables. However, there was no significant difference overall. Finally, in order to provide evidence-based interventions, the quality of each study was examined through CEC qualitative indicators, which was very high, 96~100%. On the basis of theses results, discussions and conclusions were presented.
