초록

In this paper, it was examined how the names of fast foods were translated into Chinese. The Chinese usually translate the meaning of food's name. Otherwise, at first, they use a Chinese transliteration of a foreign word, and then use the translated words in Chinese. In this case, the number of syllables of a Chinese transliteration is usually tallied with the number of syllables of the original name. Sometimes, the words with l -initial were transcribed into the characters with n- initial, and the syllables with -n ending were transliterated into the characters with -ŋ ending. There are also some vocabularies that seem to have been transcribed first in the southern Chinese dialect, which has an entering tone. Tart was transliterated into 挞 which still has -t ending in southern dialect, and shake was transliterated into 昔 which still has -k ending in southern dialect. When translating compound words, most follow the order of the original language, making the words in the order of recipe + ingredient name + food type. If morpheme 熱, 冷 is used to describe the state of food, it is used in front of the morpheme that describes the recipe.
