The Comparison Analysis of the Goguryeo and Manchu Tungusic Languages: Focus on the verbs and adjectives of <Samguksagi>

This article focuses on the 8 verbs and 12 adjectives extracted from the place names of the Goguryeo Dynasty recorded in the Samguksagi(三國史記)(Volume 35 and Volume 37). From the perspective of comparative linguistics, it describes and analyzes the phonetic and semantic commonalities between the ancient sounds on the phonetic Chinese characters and the Manchu Tungusic languages and their dialects. The aim is to clarify the specific semantics of Goguryeo words, and to explore the linguistic relevance between Goguryeo language and the Manchu Tungusic languages, providing more references for further expanding research on Goguryeo. As a result, Goguryeo and the Manchu Tungusic languages have a high degree of similarity in verbs and adjectives. Among them, the Tungusic branch languages and Goguryeo have a relatively high proportion of related vocabulary, with Ewenki even accounting for as high as 85%, and Oroqen and Hezhe languages both accounting for 75% and 70%, which is also relatively high. This indicates that there may be a close linguistic relationship between Goguryeo and the Manchu Tungusic languages, especially with the Tungusic branch languages, such as Ewenki, Oroqen, and Hezhe.
