본 연구는 영아의 발달에 기여하는 개인 내 요인으로서 기질을 어머니가 지각한 성별에 따른 영아기질과 보육교사가 지각한 성별에 따른 영아기질을 알아보고, 보육교사가 지각한 영아기질과 어머니가 지각한 영아기질간의 차이를 알아보았다. 연구결과, 보육교사와 어머니가 지각한 영아 기질의 성별에 따른 구성요인별 차이를 알아본 결과 일부 구성요인에서 남아와 여아간의 차이를 보였으나 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 아니었다. 반면, 어머니가 지각한 영아의 기질과 보육교사가 지각한 영아의 기질 간의 차이는 구성요인 중 반응성과 정서성에서만 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 선행연구와 비교해 본 결과 일관된 결과와 상반된 결과를 보였다. 이처럼 많은 연구들이 일관되지 않은 결과를 보이는 이유는, 행동은 상황에 매우 민감하여 환경이 다를 경우 보육교사나 어머니가 다르게 지각하거나 보육교사나 어머니의 개인적 특성이 반영되었기 때문이다. 이상의 결과에 비추어 보면 바람직한 보육효과를 극대화시키기 위해서는 영아 발달에 근본적으로 영향을 미치는 영아 기질에 대한 개념을 영아교육을 담당하는 보육교사나 부모에게 인식시키고 기질에 대한 정확한 판단을 위해 기질에 대한 교육이 보육교사교육이나 부모교육을 통하여 이루어져야 하는 것으로 여겨진다.
Abstract
This study examines intrinsic element of infants that contributes to their developmental advancement; how mothers and teachers recognize infant temperaments by gender; and the difference between how mothers and teachers recognize infant temperament of the different gender. The research found that the difference between how mothers recognize the infant temperament and how teachers recognize infants’ temperament differences in gender was not statistically significant. Only two of the elements which showed slight differences were how mothers and teachers perceived infants’ reactivity and emotional characteristics. The research findings are contrary with previous findings due to the fact that mothers and teachers behaviors were affected by different environments and that their individualistic traits were highly reflected. As a conclusion, in order to maximize effects of childcare, mothers and teachers need to be educated about the concept of fundamental elements that contribute to development of infant temperament and how to best judge those elements.
