영아의 기질과 교사가 지각한 영아-교사관계가 영아의 어린이집 적응에 미치는 영향

The effects of the infant's temperament and the teacher's perception of the infant-teacher relationship on infant's acclimatization in the daycare center

초록

영아의 어린이집 적응에 영향을 줄 수 있는 요인으로서 영아의 기질과 영아와 교사 관계를살펴보고자, 경기도 소재의 13개의 국공립 어린이집 만 2세반에 재원 중인 영아의 부모 175명과 교사 25명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 자료 분석에는 SPSS 23.0을 사용하였으며, t-test, Pearson의 부분적률상관계수, 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 어린이집 적응에는 성차와 월령차가 나타났다. 둘째, 각 변인들 간의 상관관계를 살펴보았을 때, 사회정서적 적응과 기본생활습관 적응 사이의 유의한 상관이 나타났으며, 영아의 기질과 어린이집 적응 사이에는 유의한 관계가 나타나지 않았다. 마지막으로 어린이집 적응에 대한 상대적 영향력을 살펴보았을 때, 교사가 지각한 영아-교사 관계 중에서 친밀성만이 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 드러났다. 본 연구를 통해 그동안 연구가 부족했던 어린이집 내에서의 식사와 수면에 대한이해를 도울 뿐만 아니라 영아의 기질 및 교사와의 관계가 영아의 적응에 미치는 영향을 살펴봄으로써 영아의 어린이집 적응과 관련된 연구와 보육 정책을 마련하는데 기초 자료를 제공할수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate infants’ acclimatization in a daycare center. This was accomplished by examining the effect of the infant’s temperament, age, and gender as well as the teacher’s perception of the infant-teacher relationship on the infant’s acclimatization in a daycare center. A total of 141 infants and 25 teachers were recruited from 13 daycare centers. The results showed the following. First, there were statistically significant differences in the infants’ acclimatization in the daycare center according to age and gender. Infants aged 42-48 months had higher levels of acclimatization in the daycare center than those aged 36-41 months. Also, female infants exhibited higher levels of prosocial behavior and acclimatization to daycare routines than male infants. Second, there were no significant relationships between the infant temperament and the infants’ acclimatization in the daycare center. However, socio-emotional development and basic life habits hadrted a significant impact on infants’ acclimatization. Lastly, there was a significant relationship between teacher perception of the infant-teacher relationship and infants’ acclimatization in the daycare center. Among the sub-factors of the infant-teacher relationship, only closeness had a significant effect on the infants’ acclimatization in the daycare center. Closer infant-teacher relationships led to positive effects in the daycare setting, such as an increase in infants’ prosocial behavior, better acclimatization to daycare routines, and more desired eating behaviors. The implications of this study are that it was possible to provide an adaptive view of eating and sleeping in a daycare center that is directly linked to the quality of life of infants and to provide a different perspective from the existing study. In addition, the intimacy of infant-teacher relationships is a factor that serves as an attachment to parents in the context of daycare centers, suggesting the importance of teacher sensitivity and professionalism for compassionate interactions with infants.
