본 연구는 중앙고용정보원의 제2차 청년패널조사(Youth Panel)를 이용하여 학생 및 지역 수준의 변수들이 고등학생들의 재학 중 아르바이트 참가 여부에 미치는 영향을 위계적 일반화선형모형(Hierarchical Generalized Linear Model)으로써 분석하였다. 최종 분석대상은 전국의 16개 지역에 있는 1,550명의 고등학생들이다. 주요 연구결과를 살펴보면, 학생들의 재학 중 아르바이트 참여 가능성이 지역별로 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 각 학생수준 배경변수, 학교계열 및 졸업후 취업여부, 그리고 학업성적수준 변수가 학생들의 아르바이트 참여에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 지역변수로는 대도시지역 여부가 학생들이 아르바이트 참여여부와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구결과에 기초한 재학 중 아르바이트 참여에 대한 정책수립 방향을 제시하였다.
Abstract
Using the Youth Panel(YP) data of 1,550 high school students in 16 regions in Korea, this study explore the links between student and regional factors and part-time working while in high school. To accomodate the nested structure of the data and research questions, we used the Hierarchical Generalized Linear Modeling(HGLM) methods to estimate regional effects on student park-time work experience. In this study, we found that there was significant variance among regions in park-time employment during high school. Regions and students both were associated with the part-time working of high school students. At the student level, background variables, vocational schools, and achievement levels had the strong effects on participating part-time work during high school. However, only metropolitan area at the region level had significant negative relationship with students’ part-time employment. Suggestions for a future study and policy implications of part-time work experience during high school are also discussed.
