청소년 아르바이트 관련 변인에 대한 탐색적 연구

본 연구는 한국청소년패널조사의 1차년도 자료를 바탕으로 중학교 2학년 학생들의 아르바이트 실태를 살펴보고 아르바이트 경험, 직종 및 강도와 관련된 요인들을 탐색적인 수준에서 고찰하는 연구이다. 연구 결과에 따르면 조사에 참여한 중학교 2학년 학생들 가운데 14.8%가 아르바이트 경험이 있다고 보고하였다. 아르바이트 경험은 가정의 사회경제적 지위 및 학업 성적과 부적인 관계를, 비행경험과는 정적인 관계를 보이고 있다. 아르바이트 직종과 관련하여 약 80%가 전단지 돌리기를 한 것으로 보고하였으나, 이러한 학생들보다는 기타 직종에서 일을 한 학생들이 더 높은 강도의 아르바이트를 하고 있었다. 아르바이트 강도와 학교 성적 및 비행경험과의 관계는 아르바이트 경험과의 관계와 유사한 양상을 보였다. 이와 더불어 청소년 아르바이트와 심리적․행동적 변인들과의 인과관계를 밝히기 위하여 있어서 선택효과에 대한 적절한 통제와 종단자료의 필요성에 대하여 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between part-time work experience among middle school students, especially work duration and intensity of the job most recently held, and various behavioral adjustment variables, based on the first-year data of the Korean Youth Panel Study. The results show that 14.8% of the respondents reported they had at least one job during the last 1-year period, and that the part-time work experience had the negative relationship with socioeconomic status of the family and school achievement, and the positive relationship with various problem behaviors. In addition, the relationships between work intensity and school-related and problem behaviors showed the similar patterns. It is suggested that the exploration of the causal relationship between adolescent part-time experience and psychological and behavioral adjustments should be based on longitudinal data in order to properly control selection effect.
