Abstract

This study classified latent profiles based on intrapersonal factors(calling, clarity of self-concept, job stress) among clinical psychology professionals and examined differences in work and life adaptation(living calling, happiness, job satisfaction) across these profiles. Data were collected through an online survey of 192 clinical psychology professionals (M = 35.48 years, SD = 5.011), who held at least one of the following qualifications: Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Clinical Psychologist, and Clinical Psychology Practitioner. Four latent profiles were identified: (i) Ideal self-actualization: highest calling and clarity of self-concept and lowest job stress; (ii) Balanced resource conservation: moderate levels of calling, clarity of self-concept, and job stress; (iii) Under-Recognition of calling: lowest calling, moderate clarity of self-concept, and high job stress; and (iv) Self-Concept Confusion: moderate calling, lowest clarity of self-concept, and highest job stress. Second, differences in adaptation levels across these profiles were examined. The Balanced Living Calling profile demonstrated the most adaptive outcomes, whereas the Under-Recognition of calling profile scored the lowest across all outcome variables. These findings underscore the importance of illuminating internal characteristics necessary for supporting clinical psychology professionals at risk of occupational burnout, highlighting the effectiveness of cultivating a sense of calling for enhancing work-life balance.
