This paper examines how to ideally combine Confucianism and liberal democracy in the background of cultural pluralism, a common feature of modern society. Confucian democracy is a creative synthesis of free democracy and Confucianism. This can be seen as a search for an ideal order that explores the harmony of freedom and rights, community and common good, and the principles of order that can achieve all of these. The discussion of rights and the discussion of the common good are actually intertwined; since we are the existence of freedom and rights, and our existence is based on the community and the common good, it is difficult to answer which of them is more important. This article gives reasons to avoid extremes. Confucian society is the same as a free society and there are many problems to be solved. By forming an ideal Confucian community that solves all contradictions and problems, we can criticize a truly free society trapped in many real problems. The task of the future is to objectively understand the problems of two real orders, face the challenge of pluralism, and combine the merits of the two ideal orders.
