초록
It is a well-identified fact in generative grammar that inflectional elements are closely related to the occurrence of subject. Another important fact concerning inflection/conjugation is the phenomenon of null subject, which includes pro and PRO. PRO is supposed to occur only in non-finite clauses while pro in finite clauses. It would be possible that these two elements exist in a single pro-drop language, in which case one would find it difficult to distinguish between them. Based on PRO's distribution,we will find out a way to determine the finiteness of a given clause.
Abstract
It is a well-identified fact in generative grammar that inflectional elements are closely related to the occurrence of subject. Another important fact concerning inflection/conjugation is the phenomenon of null subject, which includes pro and PRO. PRO is supposed to occur only in non-finite clauses while pro in finite clauses. It would be possible that these two elements exist in a single pro-drop language, in which case one would find it difficult to distinguish between them. Based on PRO's distribution,we will find out a way to determine the finiteness of a given clause.
