본 글은 신라 중대 발해에 대한 인식의 변천과 그 의미를 고찰한 것이다 . 신라 중대융성한 시기였다. 동시에 북방에서는 고구려의 유민과 말갈이 주민의 대다수를 차지하는 발해가 국가체제의 정비를 통하여 강국으로 부상하고 있던 시기이기도 하다 . 그러므로 고구려와 백제를 통합한 신라의 발해에 대한 인식은 발해와의 관계정립을 고찰하는데 있어 중요한 변수로 . 발해가 건국한 이래 신라의 발해관에는 일정한 변화가 있었던 것으로 보인다 . 대체로 발해건국기 신라는 발해에 대해 말갈종족이 세운 말갈국가로 인식하였던 것 같다 . 고구려는 이미 나당연합군에 의해 멸망했고 , 고구려의 대다수 지배층 마저 唐의 내지로 사민된 지 오래되었던 것이다. 따라서 신라인들에게 있어 고구려는 이미 ‘三韓一家’에 의한 통합된 同族으로 인식되고 있었다. 그런데 8표방함에 힘 입으면서 점차 발해에 대해 신라는 고구려를 계승한 국가로 인식하게 되었음을 알 수 있다 . 삼국을 통합하고 전제왕권을 이룩한 중대 왕권이 굳이 발해의 고구려계승의식을 부인할 필요는 없었다고 생각된다 . 발해를 고구려계승국으로 인식한다고 해서 반세기 전의 통. 이와 같이 발해에 대한 신라의 인식변화는 양국이 상호 교섭을 모색하는 중요한 계기가 되었을 것이다. 양국간의 교류는 신라도의 개통과정을 통하여 구체적으로 살펴 볼 수 있다 . 신라가 발해를 고구려계승국으로 인식하고 교류하였다면 , 하였음을 의미하는 것이다 . 따라서 신라중대 발해관의 변천을 통하여 당대에 남북국시대가 전개되었음을 확인할 수 있겠다 .
Abstract
This paper is to study the development of the cognition on Balhae in the Midle Ages of Silaand its significance. At that time, Sila united neighboring countries and their people, kept the political stability, and also developed their culture. At the same time, Balhae, which the majority of Goguryeo's and Malgar's people lived in, was located on the north of the United Sila. Therefore, it has been thought that the understanding of Balhae during the Middle Ages must have functioned as the important parameter in studying the relationship betwen the United Sila and the BalhaeAfter Balhae had ben established, the Sila's views on the Balhae must have ben changed. On the whole, in the early times of the establishment of Balhae, Sila considered Balhae as a state which was built by the people who was called the Malgarian race. However, it could be found out that Balhae was the country which suceded Goguryeo from the mid-eighth century. The change of the Sila's thought about Balhae must have become the important turning-point which found the negotiations out of the conflict betwen the two states. To sum up, this paper could discover the important evidence of the theory on the era of the South-North state throughout the development of the Sila's cognition on Balhae in the Midle Ages of Sila Dynasty
