現代日本語における新動詞の形態的変異 ―五段動詞の一段活用形について―

本研究は、頻度という言語的要因に基づき日本語の新動詞に現れる非規範的活用形の出現について論じた。新動詞は規範的に五段活用動詞であるが、/...eru/で終わる動詞の実際の言語運用を見ると、非規範的な一段活用形が現れることがある。しかも、このような音連鎖の動詞が辞書に登録される場合には、下一段動詞として現れることもある。それに対して、/...iru/で終わる動詞は、一段活用形が現れる頻度は低く、辞書に上一段動詞として定着した例も少ない。 このような二つの動詞群に現れる非対称性について、本研究はタイプ頻度による生産性の効果を見るために、NINJAL-LWP for BCCWJから/...eru/と/...iru/で終わる一段動詞と五段動詞のタイプ頻度を調査した。その結果この音連鎖の動詞の中で下一段動詞のタイプ頻度が最も高いことを確認した。/...eru/で終わる新動詞の一段活用形の出現は、このような頻度による生産性が現れた結果である。
Abstract
This paper discusses morphological variations in the use of Japanese innovative verbs based on the linguistic factor ― frequency. The innovative verbs are classified prescriptively as 5-grade verb (godan verb), but the verb ending with /...eru/ can be seen to conjugated as lower monograde verb (shimo ichidan verb). Also, if these verbs are listed in dictionary, it may be classified as lower monograde one. The verb ending with /...iru/, however, is rarely conjugated as a upper monograge verb (kami ichidan verb), and there are few cases where it has been classified as a upper monograge verb in the dictionary. To explain the asymmetry of these two types of verbs, we use NINJAL-LWP for BCCWJ to see the difference in productivity by type frequency. We investigated the type frequencies of the monograde verbs and 5-grade verbs ending in /...eru/ and /...iru/.. Thus, it is clarified that the type frequency of the lower monograde verbs is the highest. The emergence of the monograde conjugation of a innovative verb that ends with /...eru/ is the result of applying the productivity expressed by these frequencies.
