Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain what various energy sources the general public prefers, including fossil energy, nuclear energy, and alternative energy. Furthermore, what differences exist among them, what factors affect their preference, and comprehensively compare and review what differences are found in those factors. The analyzed results show the highest preference is for alternative energy, whereas energy preference is negatively shown in the general acceptability more than in conditional acceptability. Second, variables are shown in differing patterns between general acceptability and conditional acceptability. Third, the following factors have important effects on energy acceptability: environmental concern, dependence on technology, economic orientations, stable energy supply, trust in the system, and recognition of risk and cost. Lastly, the mutual relations among energy sources have an effect on energy acceptability.
