복고풍 新進士大夫의 再現 - 현행 중학교 역사 교과서의 ‘신진 사대부’ 서술 검토 -

현행 중학교 역사 교과서에서 신진 사대부는 공민왕대 개혁정치와 관련하여 서술되고 있다. 그 내용은 9종 교과서가 비슷한데, 성장 시기는 공민왕대, 출신은 지방 향리나 하급 관리 자제, 사상경향은 성리학, 입사로는 과거, 외교노선은 친명 등으로 서술하고 있는 것이 그것이다. 새 교과서의 신진 사대부 서술 방식은 1970년대에 구축된 ‘신흥사대부론’을 수용한 것이며, 교과서 측면에서는 1990년대 판 국정교과서『국사』(상)의 계통을 잇는 것이다. 2002년판『국사』가 신진 사대부를 제한적으로 접근한 것과 비교하면, 새 교과서는 이를 발전적으로 이어받은 것이 아니라 1990년대 판으로 회귀했다고 볼 수밖에 없다. 신진 사대부의 범주 설정, 사대부층 형성 시기에 대해서 재검토가 요구되며, 사대부의 등장 시기에 대해서도 고려 말에만 머무를 것이 아니라 고려전기로 올려 서술하는 방법을 적극 모색해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The Publishing system of middle school history textbook changed from a government designated system to a government-authorized system according to the history curriculum of the revised course of study in 2007. The current middle school history textbook 『History』①․② was described as focusing on the political history and cultural history. And it involves the various learning materials. This study has analyze the contents and explanations of Shinjin- Sadaebu in the current middle school history textbook. It has now been generally accepted that Shinjin-Sadaebu came from local clerical professions through passing the literary examinations. And they are thought to have become the Neo-Confucianism scholar and builder of the new Choson dynasty, rejecting the Buddhism. But understanding method of Shinjin-Sadaebu was trapped in the framework of Sinheung-Sadaebu theory(新興士大夫論) made in the '70s. Therefore, the categories and disposition of Shinjin-Sadaebu should be reviewed. And it must be set the Sadaebu(士大夫)'s formation time in early Goryeo.
