초록

본 연구는 북한이탈주민의 젊은 세대가 남한 생활에서 주관적으로 느끼는 삶의 만족도 및 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대하여 분석하였다. 삶의 만족도는 이들이 새로운 사회에 어느 정도 통합되었는지 파악할 수 있는 중요한 지표로 이해될 수 있기 때문이다. 특히 본 연구는 20․30세대의 젊은 세대를 대상으로 하였다. 젊은 세대는 통일 과정에서 주체가 될 가능성이 높기 때문에 이들의 성향과 태도를 분석하는 것은 중요하다. 본 연구의 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 북한이탈주민 젊은 세대의 다수는 남한 생활에 대하여 만족감을 표현하였다. 북한이탈주민 젊은 세대를 남한의 젊은 세대와 비교하는 경우 삶에 대한 만족도의 비율은 높았다. 둘째, 이들의 탈북 전 교육수준은 삶의 만족도에 긍정적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 남한에서의 정규 교육을 수료한 경험도 이들의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 주었다. 셋째, 개인의 소득수준은 이들의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 주었다. 마지막으로 정치적 영역에서의 자유는 삶의 만족도를 결정짓는데 직접적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 남한과 북한의 민주주의 차이가 크다고 인식할수록 이들이 느끼는 삶의 만족도는 높았다. .

Abstract

This study attempts to examine the life satisfaction and its determinants of North Korean young defectors in South Korea. In the scholarly communities, analyzing the life satisfaction is significant research topic since it can be understood as an indicator for social integration. The finding of this study can be summarized as follows. First, this study reveals that North Korean young defectors show relatively high level of life satisfaction compared to South Korean young generation. Second, education level completed in North Korea before the defection has an impact positively on their life satisfaction. The study also finds that experience of a formal education in South Korea influences the satisfaction of their lives. Third, the assessment of the economic situation is a factor that influences on life satisfaction. Finally, the study reveals that political freedom has a direct impact in determining the life satisfaction of North Korean young defectors. The more aware the difference between South and North Korean democracy, the higher life satisfaction they feel.
