체제전환국의 FDI 유입 결정요인: 유럽ㆍ동아시아ㆍ 중앙아시아 체제전환국 간의 차이를 중심으로

초록

본고는 유럽 및 아시아 체제전환국의 FDI 유입에 영향을 미치는 요인의 상이성을 세계은행의 FDI 총유입액 통계와 패널분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 전반적으로 볼 때 유럽의 체제전환국에서는 정부부문이 주도하는 FDI 유입이 이루어진 것으로 보이며, 민간부문의 자유화 수준이 높은 체제전환국보다 안정된 공공부문을 가진 체제전환국으로 FDI가 더 많이유입된 것으로 분석되었다. 반면 동아시아의 체제전환국은 제도 및 경제구조의 자유화가FDI 유입을 촉진한 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 동아시아 체제전환국에 투자했던 직접투자기업은 경영여건 및 생산여건의 개선을 고려하여 FDI를 선택했음을 보여준다.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of European and Asian transition economies using World Bank’s FDI statistics and panel data analysis. Generally speaking, the FDI inflow in European transition economies might be driven by governments, and, hence, FDI flowed into countries that had the more stable public sector rather than countries that had the more liberalized private sector. However, the liberalization in the institution and economic structures was more likely to stimulate the inflow of FDI into East Asian transition economies. It shows that the foreign investors to East Asian transition economies decided to invest there under the consideration of business and production environments.
