초록

Translation of foreign literature requires an understanding of the different cultures of the two languages, as well as an awareness of language structure and meaning. The language of “others’ speech” in literature appears in the form of information, and characters’ internal psychological states and thoughts. Russian and Korean languages contain different communication methods, different syntax, and semantic structures in the form of direct speech, indirect speech, free indirect speech, and quotation. These elements disrupt the delivery of the author’s intention in literary translation. Especially, unsuitable translations of reference, and deixis, as well as the use of personal pronoun and exclamation do not express the author’s voice and the voices of the characters. Because these translations fail to express the author’s original meaning, free indirect speech can result in the loss of literary meaning. Therefore, vocabulary, grammatical forms, and syntax-semantic research on how to communicate the language of others are needed in the two languages.
