메이지 30년대 문학의 한 가능성 ― 사회소설과 ‘미적 생활론’의 접점 ―

본 논문은 메이지 30년대 문학, 그 중에서도 그 전반기 문학의 내적 연관성을 고찰하면서 이후 메이지자연주의문학으로 이행하는 과정의 의미를 살펴보았다. 일반적으로 메이지 30년대 전반기 문학이 문학사에서 차지하는 비중은 그 전후 시대에 비해 적다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 문학사 기술 양상을 염두에 두면서 우치다 로안과 다카야마 초규의 소설과 평론에 초점을 맞추어 메이지 30년대 문학의 공통 기반과 가능성을 고찰했다. 그 결과 두 문학자의 문학적 지향과 시대인식은 현재의 문학사가 전해주지 않는 깊은 공감대를 형성하고 있었으며 그러한 공감대는 당시 시대상황에 대한 비판적 인식에 기초했다는 점을 밝혔다. 그리고 이어지는 메이지자연주의문학으로의 이행과정에는 적지 않은 제도적 제약과 이데올로기적 압박이 작용했음을 지적했다.
Abstract
This study is aimed at clarifying a possibility of 1900's japanese novel with a point of contact between a social novel and the opinion of 'beautiful life'. Generally the history of japanese literature does not give heavy weight to the first half of 1900's japanese novel. In this situation this study aimed at defining the inner association between Roan Uchida's social novels and Chogyu Takayama's critique of 'beautiful life' because the connection of two literary men can be led to show a new possibility of 1900's japanese literature. It can add a new fact to the history of japanese literature too. In conclusion, this study clarified the connection of social novel and arugument of 'beautiful life'. And the connection was based on critical recognition about historical situations. When we think about the appearance of japanese naturalism from the possobility of 1900's japanese literature, we can understand that the process to japanese naturalism influenced on political restriction s and thought controll.
