한․중․일의 동의중복현상 고찰

동의중복이란 같은 뜻을 가지는 어휘소가 같은 구절에 나타나는 현상인데, 연속적으로 합성어나 파생어의 형식으로 나타날 수도 있고 다른 어휘소의 삽입으로 인해 떨어져 나타날 수도 있다. 동의중복은 다종어휘들 사이에 중복이 발생하는 게 보편적이며 한자어와 고유어, 외래어와 고유어 사이의 중복이 더 많이 발견된다. 이 현상은 유사한 의미를 지닌 단어들이 의미 분화를 일으키면서 공존하게 되는 어휘체계의 일면을 보여준다. 한국어나 일본어에 다양한 어휘형태가 공존하고 있으므로 동의중복현상이 보다 활발하게 나타나고 있는 데에 비해 중국어에는 우선 고유어라는 개념이 없고, 또한 한자의 특성으로 인해 외래어의 유입도 음역보다 의역을 선호하기 때문에 외래어라는 개념 자체가 모호하고 쟁점의 대상이 됐었을 정도이다. 비교적 단순한 어휘체계를 가지고 있는 중국어에서도 동의중복이 일어나고 있는 것은 특이한 현상이라고 할 수밖에 없다. 본고는 한중일의 동의중복현상 고찰과 원인분석에 목적을 두고 있으며 동의중복을 이루는 어휘형태들이 형태소로 기능을 하지 않아도 좋다는 전제에 분석하였다.
Abstract
Pleonasm is a phenomenon about the same meaning words in the same sentence. It can appear continuously in the form of compound or derivative, or appears off due to the insertion of a different vocabulary. Pleonastic phenomena are more frequent between the different word-kinds than between the same word-kinds. So the pleonasm between native Korean and Sino-Korean, borrowed vocabulary are easily found, and is one of the reason why synonymous words can co-exist with each other while differentiating semantically. Korean or Japanese have various lexical forms, so the phenomenon has appeared more active, in contrast, Chinese don't have concept of native tongue, and due to the characteristics of Chinese characters, people like liberal translation rather than transliteration in the introduction of foreign words. So the concept of foreign words is vague even controversial. Pleonasm is happened in Chinese who have almost single lexical type is a unique phenomenon. This paper aims to study on the pleonastic expressions of Korean, Chinese, Japanese and analysis of the reasons.
