Abstract

This study investigated empirically analyze how job stress affects knowledge sharing, which is increasing in importance with the development of information and communication technology, and validated the moderating effects of perceived organizational support in the relationship between job stress and knowledge sharing. To this end, the impact of challenging and hindrance stressors of job stress on knowledge sharing was verified with 415 workers of Chinese companies, and how the relationship between job stress and knowledge sharing varies depending on the level of perceived organizational support. As a result of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the challenging stressors had a positive (+) effect on knowledge sharing, and the hindrance stressors were found to have a negative (-) effect on knowledge sharing. Second, it was confirmed that perceived organizational support had a significant moderating effect on the relationship between job stress and knowledge sharing. Specifically, perceived organizational support was found to alleviate the negative (-) effect of hindrance stressors on knowledge sharing. On the contrary to the hypothesis, the positive (+) effect of challenging stress on knowledge sharing was also found to alleviate. Based on the above research results, the limitations of this research and future research directions are presented along with implications from the theoretical and practical aspects.
