어촌문화체험관광 경험에 관한 질적 연구 : 백미리 어촌체험휴양마을을 중심으로

2001년부터 운영되고 있는 어촌체험휴양마을은 지역의 문화와 정서를 체험하는 공간으로 주목받아 왔으나, 관광객의 경험과 문화적 의미에 대한 체계적 분석은 부족하였다. 본 연구는 백미리를 사례로 하여 어촌체험휴양마을 관광객의 체험 경험을 심층적으로 고찰하고, 미래의 지속 가능한 운영 방향을 제시하는 데 목적을 두었다. 자료 수집은 현장 참여관찰과 심층 인터뷰를 병행하였으며, 수집된 자료는 Pine & Gilmore의 체험경제이론(4Es)을 분석 틀로 삼아, 지시적 내용분석 방법을 활용해 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 단조로운 프로그램과 이벤트 부재로 ‘엔터테인먼트 체험’은 약하게 나타났으나, 갯벌 생태 관찰과 채집 활동을 통해 ‘교육 체험’은 대체로 충족되었다. 또한 도시 일상에서 벗어난 활동을 통해 몰입과 해방을 경험하는 ‘현실도피 체험’이 두드러졌으나, ‘미적 체험’ 요소는 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 어촌체험휴양마을이 총체적 체험 제공을 위해서는 체험의 다양화, 안내 시스템 정비, 주민 역량 강화, 미적·교육적 체험을 결합한 복합 공간 조성이 필요함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 어촌체험휴양마을을 단순한 체험의 공간이 아닌, 문화적 의미 생산의 장으로 인식하고, 관광객의 주관적 경험을 중심으로 그 가치를 해석하였다는 점에서 학문적 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Since their establishment in 2001, Fishing Villages have been recognized as spaces for engaging with local culture and sentiment, yet systematic analyses of tourists’ experiences and their cultural significance remains limited. This study examines visitors’ experiential interactions at Baekmi-ri fishing village, aiming to provide insights for sustainable management. Data were collected through field observations and in-depth interviews, and analyzed by using Pine & Gilmore’s Experience Economy Theory(4Es) as the analytical framework and employing directed content analysis. Findings indicate that ‘Entertainment experience’ was weak due to monotonous programs and lack of events. ‘Educational experience’ was provided through ecological observation and harvesting but limited by insufficient guidance. The ‘Escapist experience’ was most prominent, providing immersion and psychological release from urban routines, whereas ‘Esthetic experience’ was limited to natural scenery with few spatial or design elements. These results suggest the need for program diversification, strucured guide services, capacity building for residents, and the creation of spaces combining aesthetic and educational values. Overall, the study emphasizes fishing villages as spaces of cultural meaning, offering practical implications for enhancing both sustainability and the quality of visitor experiences.
