중학생의 위험회피 기질과 사회적 위축의 관계: 자녀가 지각하는 부정적 정서에 대한 어머니 반응의 매개효과

초록

이 연구의 목적은 사회적 위축에 대한 중학생의 위험회피 기질의 영향력이 자녀의 부정적 정서에 대한 어머니 반응에 의해 매개되는지 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 중학생 1, 2학년 총 462명을 대상으로 수집한 자기보고식 설문자료를 SPSS 29와 PROCESS Macro 4.2 프로그램을 이용하여 매개효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 중학생의 위험회피 기질과 사회적 위축의 관계에서 자녀의 부정적 정서에 대한 어머니의 지지적 반응과 그 하위요인인 정서초점 반응과 문제초점 반응만이 부분매개효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 높은 위험회피 기질로 인해 위축 문제를 나타내는 청소년들에게 큰 틀에서의 어머니 지지적 반응과 그 하위요인에 해당하는 정서나 문제에 초점을 두어 지지적으로 반응해주는 것이 자녀의 사회적 위축 문제를 개선하는 데 도움이 될 수 있음을 시사하였다. 이 연구는 위험회피 기질로 인해 사회적 위축 문제를 나타내는 청소년들을 위한 효과적인 개입 방안을 모색하는 데 기초자료가 될 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate whether the relationship between middle school students’ harm avoidance temperament on social withdrawal is mediated by mothers’ responses to their children’s negative emotions. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires from a sample of 462 middle school students in the first and second grades. The analyses were conducted using SPSS 29 and PROCESS Macro 4.2. The results indicated that emotion-focused and problem-focused maternal supportive reactions partially mediated the relationship between harm avoidance temperament and social withdrawal. These findings suggest that maternal supportive reactions, particularly those focused on emotions or problem-solving, may mitigate social withdrawal in children with harm avoidance temperaments. This study offers valuable insights for developing effective interventions for adolescents exhibiting social withdrawal due to harm avoidance temperament.
