Abstract
In this study, we examined the effect of abnormal audit hour and abnormal audit fee on the value relevance of the accounting information. Especially, we divided the samples into normal, upper and lower ranges. Because the abnormal audit hour and audit fee can differently affect on the value relevance by their characteristics, like upper level rather than normal or lower level rather than normal. Therefore, we compared the difference of the value relevance as follows. First we examined the differences between the normal group and the upper group, the normal group and the lower group, the upper group and the lower group using the audit hour and the audit fee. Our results as follows. First, the level of the audit hour influenced positively on the value relevance to accounting information. That means, the value relevance of the normal group is higher than the lower group. But the value relevance of the normal group is lower than the upper group. And also, the upper group showed higher level of value relevance than the lower group. Second, we studied our hypothesis using the audit fees, like the total audit fees and the unit audit fees. The results using the total audit fees showed that the audit fees are positively related to the value relevance of the accounting information. Specifically, the value relevance of the accounting information in the upper group are highest rather than any other group, like the normal group and the lower group. Third, the results using the unit audit fee are similar with the results with the total audit fee.
