본 연구는 희망증진 프로그램이 중학생의 생활만족도 및 우울감소에 미치는 효과를 검증하고자 했다. 희망증진 프로그램은 학교상담자를 위한 희망고취 프로그램 개발 전략(Snyder, Feldman, Shorey, & Rand, 2002)과 McDemott 등(1996) “WINNER” Model(Hope in the schools)을 토대로 우리나라 중학생의 발달단계를 고려하여 재구성하였다. 실험집단은 8회기의 프로그램을 실시하였으며 통제집단에는 아무런 처치도 하지 않았다. 프로그램 실시 결과 실험집단은 통제집단에 비하여 희망과 생활만족도가 향상된 것으로 나타났고, 우울감소에는 유의미한 결과가 나타나지 않았다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 논의와 사회적 함의를 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the hope enhancement program on life satisfaction and depression in middle school students. The results of the comparison between the experiment group and the control group are summarized as follows. First, it was confirmed that the hope level of the participants who participated in the hope enhancement program showed a significant improvement compared to the control group, which suggests the hope enhancement program was effective in improving the hope level in middle school students. Second, the Hope enhancement program showed a significant improvement in the life satisfaction. Fifth, the Hope enhancement program did not show a significant effect on depression. Therefore, this study suggests that the Hope enhancement program can help to realize goals in a positive and concrete way to d to reach high hopes via various paths. Furthermore, we hope that the hope enhancement program will be used in the education and counseling field so that the youth can live a healthier and happier life as a member of our society.
