영유아 자위행위 실태와 부모의 대처반응 및 인식 분석: 성교육‧성상담센터 사이버상담사례 중심

본 연구는 영유아 자위행위의 실태를 분석하고 영유아 자위에 대한 부모의 대처반응 및 인식을 분석함으로써 영유아 자위행위에 대한 부모의 긍정적 인식과 적절한 대처방법을 모색할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하기 위한 목적에서 수행되었다. 이를 위해 성교육 및 성 관련 상담을 하는 A센터의 2009년부터 2018년까지 10년 동안의 영유아 자위행위에 대한 부모들의 사이버 상담사례 1,225건을 분석하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자위행위는 남아보다 여아들에게서 더 많이 관찰되었고, 최초 출현 연령은 3개월이고, 출현 빈도가 가장 높은 연령은 7세였다. 둘째, 자위행위의 횟수는 하루 2회 이상이 가장 많았다. 셋째, 자위행위의 방법으로는 주변 사물에 문지르는 경우가 가장 많았다. 넷째, 영유아 자녀의 자위행위를 부모가 최초로 목격했을 때 이를 무시하거나 모르는 척하였고 , 반복 목격했을 때는 신체 안전을 위해 중단해야 한다고 설명하는 대처반응이 가장 높은 비율을 차지했다. 다섯째, 영유아 자녀의 자위행위에 대해 부모들이 느끼는 심리적 특성으로는 자위행위가 습관화될 가능성에 대한 우려와 타인 앞에서 자위행위를 할 가능성에 대한 두려움이 가장 높은 비율을 차지했다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로, 영유아 자녀의 자위행위에 대한 부모의 대응 및 태도 방안에 대한 교육 및 상담적 시사점을 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study was conducted to provide basic data for parents' positive perception of infants’ masturbation and appropriate coping methods by analyzing the actual condition of masturbation behaviors in early childhood and parents' perception and coping responses. To do this, we analyzed the 1,225 cases of parental cyber counseling about infants’ masturbation for 10 years from 2009 to 2018 of A center which is related sex education and sex related counseling. The main results are as follows. First, masturbation in early childhood was observed more frequently in girls than in boys, and the first appearance age was 3 months old and the highest appearance frequency age was 7 years old. Second, the number of masturbation behaviors was the highest more than twice a day. Third, as a method of masturbation, rubbing around objects was most common. Fourth, as coping responses, when parents first witnessed masturbation in their children, mostly they ignored and when they repeatedly witnessed it, explained that they should stop for physical safety. Fifth, the psychological characteristics of the parents about the masturbation of the infant children were the highest rate of fear of possibility of masturbation becoming habit and possibility of masturbation in front of others. Based on the above results, we discussed the educational and counseling implications of parents' response and attitude toward masturbation of infant children.
