유아기 자녀 성교육에 대한 어머니의 인식과 선호 교육 방안

초록

본 연구는 어머니의 자녀 성교육에 대한 인식과 그들이 선호하는 유아기 자녀 성교육 방안을 찾고자 실시되었다. 이에 Q 방법론을 적용하여 유아기 자녀 성교육에 대한 어머니의 인식을 유형화하고, 유형에 따른 공통점과 차별점을 파악하였다. 연구의 P 표본은 유아기 아동의 어머니 33명을 대상으로 삼았고, 자녀 성교육에 대한 인식을 기술한 38개의 Q 표본을 분류하게 하였다. 연구 결과, 유아기 자녀 성교육에 대한 어머니의 인식은 3가지 유형으로 분류되었다. 1유형은 부모-사회 공동 교육형으로 유아기 자녀의 성교육은 부모와 사회가 함께 해야 한다고 생각하고 있었다. 2유형은 사회 위탁 교육형으로 유아기 자녀에게 성에 대해 언급하는 것을 어려워하며, 교육기관이나 전문가에게 위임하고자 하였다. 3유형은 부모주도 교육형으로 부모가 주도적으로 구체적이고 상세하게 자녀 성교육을 하고자 하였다. 어머니의 성교육 인식에 따라 자녀 성교육에 대한 접근은 차이가 있으므로, 교육 효과를 높이기 위해 유형별 선호 교육 방안을 고려한 부모 성교육 프로그램 개발을 제언한다.

Abstract

This study was conducted to classify mothers' perceptions of sexuality education for their young children Using Q methodology, mothers’ characteristics and needs of sexuality education were identified. A 38 Q-sample was selected to represent the universe of viewpoints on sexuality education for young children. A P-sample (N=33), who were the mothers of young children, were recruited to share their perceptions of sexuality education for their young children on a Q-sorting table. Data was analyzed using the PQmethod program. As a result of this study, mothers' perceptions of sexuality education young children were classified into three types according to commonalities (necessities and contents of sexuality education) and differences (subjects, approaches). Type 1 (parent-social co-education type) included 16 people who thought that sexuality education should be conducted by society as well as parents. There were 7 people in Type 2 (social consignment education type) who were afraid of directly providing sexuality education to their young children, and wanted sexuality education by preschools or experts. Type 3 (parent-led education type) classified 5 people and showed a willingness to take the initiative in providing specific and detailed sexuality education for their children. Sexuality education for young children needs to be developed with considerations on various needs depending on the characteristics and needs of mothers.
