Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore ways to build and apply a parent education program in line with evidence-based practice in Korea to strengthen the social-emotional competence of early childhood. Accordingly, the database construction system of evidence-based parent education, systematic verification procedures, and qualitative indicators verifying the effectiveness of educational interventions were analyzed through CEBC, Blueprints for Healthy Youth Development, CEBP, and Colorado State University, an evidence-based practice verification institute in the United States. In addition, Triple P, Incredible Years, PMTO, and STEP programs that appeared most frequently at the highest level among the evidence-based parent education programs for cultivating young children's social-emotional competencies and intervening in challenging behavior were selected from each institute. By analyzing the theoretical basis, goals, main content, support strategy, intervention level, progress method, educational materials, and effectiveness of each program, the characteristics of parent education programs proven to be high-quality, and evidence-based were examined. The results of the analysis suggest efforts to build a database as a practical way to apply to the field of parent education in Korea at the macro-and systemic level, and suggest systematic screening procedures and verification standards, establishing a scientific and practical implementation framework, and securing resources to increase access to parenting fields within the program as strategic approaches to achieve effectiveness at the program level.
