장애이해교육 실행에 대한 초등학교 교사의 경험과 인식: 장애공감문화 확산을 위한 교육자료 개발 기초 연구

초록

이 연구는 장애공감문화 확산을 위한 교육자료 개발을 위한 기초 연구로서 초등학교에서의 장애이해교육 실행에 대한 특수교사 및 통합학급 교사의 경험과 인식을 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 이를 위해 총 12명의 특수교사 및 통합학급 교사를 대상으로 포커스 그룹 면담을 실시하고 질적 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 (1) 장애이해교육에 대한 교사의 기대와 성과 경험, (2) 장애이해교육에 대한 고민과 어려움, (3) 성공적인 장애이해교육을 위한 노력, (4) 통합의 문화를 만들어 가기 위한 장애이해교육의 과제라는 4개 주제와 각 주제에 따른 12개 하위주제가 도출되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 초등학교에서의 성공적인 장애이해교육을 위한 연구 결과의 시사점과 장애공감문화 확산을 위한 교육자료 개발 방향에 대해 논의하였다.

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the experiences and perceptions of special education teachers and inclusive class teachers regarding the implementation of education to improve awareness of disabilities in elementary schools. This study is a basic study to develop 「the Educational Contents to Spread a Culture of Empathy for Disabilities」 ordered by the National Institute of Special Education. For this purpose, this study employed a qualitative inquiry using focus group interviews with 12 participants including 5 inclusive class teachers and 7 special education teachers in elementary schools. The interview data were analyzed using the constant comparative method. As a result, four themes were derived as follows:. (1) teachers' expectations and performance experiences in disability understanding education, (2) concerns and difficulties in education to improve awareness of disabilities, (3) efforts for successful education to improve awareness of disabilities, and (4) challenges to create a culture for inclusion. There were 12 sub-themes derived from the four themes. Based on these results, the implications for implementation of education to improve awareness of disabilities in elementary schools and the direction of developing educational contents to spread a culture of empathy for disability were discussed.
