본 연구는 지적장애 여성을 위한 성교육 가이드라인 개발의 일환으로, 특히 20대 경도 지적장애 여성의 성과 사랑, 연애의 실제를 이해하고, 이를 공유하기 위해 이루어졌다. 연애 경험을 가진 20대 경도 지적장애 여성 당사자 3인과의 심층면담을 통해 그들의 관점에서 성과 사랑, 연애, 결혼과 출산에 대한 현실적인 고민과 지원요구를 살펴보았다. 구체적인 연구질문은 다음과 같다; 첫째, 경도 지적장애 여성들의 성과 사랑 그리고 연애 경험은 어떠했는가? 둘째, 경도 지적장애 여성들이 성적 존재로서 자신의 삶을 계획하는데 필요한 자원과 지원요구는 무엇인가? 총 3명의 지적장애 여성을 대상으로 시차를 둔 2회의 면담을 진행하여 자료를 수집하였고, 면담자료를 분석한 결과 총 5개의 핵심주제(core theme), 11개의 하위주제(subtheme), 22개의 의미범주(meaning category)가 도출되었다. 5개의 핵심주제는 구체적으로 ‘성장배경과 성교육 경험’, ‘연애 경험’, ‘성 경험’, ‘일상 속 도움과 지원요구’, ‘결혼과 미래계획’ 이었고, 이 결과를 바탕으로 논의를 진행하였다.
Abstract
This study was conducted as part of the process to develop sex education guidelines for women with intellectual disabilities, with the goal of understanding and addressing their experiences and needs regarding sex, love, and romantic relationships. Focusing on women with mild intellectual disabilities in their twenties who had prior dating experiences, the research examined their lived realities and practical concerns related to sexuality, romantic relationships, marriage, and parenthood. In-depth interviews were conducted with three participants, each engaging in two staggered sessions. The research questions addressed were: (1) What are the experiences of women with mild intellectual disabilities regarding sex, love, and romantic relationships? (2) What resources and support do these women require to navigate their roles as sexual beings? Data analysis identified five core themes, 11 subthemes, and 22 meaning categories from the interviews. The core themes were: ‘Background and Sexual Education Experiences’, ‘Romantic Relationship Experiences’, ‘Sexual Experiences’, ‘Daily Support and Resource Needs’, and ‘Marriage and Future Plans’. These findings provide the basis for discussions on how to better support women with intellectual disabilities in these areas.
