포장극단의 연희활동 고찰 - 대본구성을 중심으로 -

Abstract

This study focuses on the performance of the wandering troupe after the modern age and tries to find the meaning by analyzing play scripts used for performances. There is a group who put out performances across the country along with Sadangpae, Namsadangpae, Sotdaejaengipae, Choranipae, Punggakjaenipae, Gutjungpae, and circus troupes. They performed actively after 1950 by building temporary theaters in marketplaces and vacant village lots and performing folk play to the public. They first used packaging for building stages and performed with various repertories. After they gained popularity, they performed mainly in play by making various material based performances such as Lee Dynasty play, historical drama, and modern play. They called themselves ‘Fiction troupe’, ‘Nylon troupe’, and ‘A performance troupe by setting up packaging'. In reality, they caught on with the public and the troupe actively performed across the country with the leader of the troupe as the central figure. The researcher of this study tentatively named these troupes ‘Packaging troupe’ and concentrated on the performance and significance of folk play centering on scripts of their play. They actively performed after the modern age but did not receive the spotlight. However, actors who worked in the packaging troupe learned pansori and professionally mastered folk songs and nongak. They actively performed folk play with and in the public through performances and some became celebrities by being selected as professional singers or actors. Members of the packaging troupe continued their folk play performance by learning professional abilities in the public and also contributed to the development of pop culture. These performances newly developed the value of traditional culture in pop culture and presented the developmental possibility as traditional culture content.
