원불교 초기 전개과정에 나타난 공공성의 변모양상

Abstract

The thought that the public attempted to open the postnatal beginning of the world for itself can be the public nature of the Korean people. As Wonbuddhism underwent the turbulent period, it was founded on the dimension of public nature in the Korean people. Simply summarizing Wonbuddhism, it can be one of the public thoughts, and many parts of the Wonbuddhist doctrine emphasize the public mind based on esprit impartial. The public views were considered as important not only in the historical development of early Wonbuddhism but also in the formation of individual personality. The historical developments of public natures and the religious contents of Wonbuddhism including the public natures reached the peak as Samdongeunli (The Ethics of Triple Identity). Jeongsanjongsa’s Samdongeunli, based on religious spirit, can be an ethical theory which emphasizes wide harmonious spirits such as reconciliation, agreement, and cooperation and leads to religious and civilized development with more opened formations. Wonbuddhism with Samdongeunli, not conducting an religious movement for itself,includes its own public natures keeping up with the times and leading a new future. However, Wonbuddhism is facing its historical moment to seek a new change for a new period. Therefore, as reviewing its past transfiguration processes, it should predict the direction of change and to perform an new innovation.
