신문 사설 제목의 대화주의적 분석

신문 사설은 주관성이 드러나는 대표적인 의견글이다. 하지만 다른 오피니언 글들과 달리, 개인의 주장이 아닌 신문사의 주장을 피력하는 글이다. 발화적 측면에서 분석해 볼 때, ‘말하는 주체’와 ‘화자’가 일치하지 않는 이런 특성은 신문의 다른 기사나 의견글에서도 볼 수 없는 사설에 고유한 특징이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 사설의 제목은 다른 기사 제목과 통사적인 면에서 차이를 보인다. 사설의 제목은 본문의 내용을 요약하고 신문사의 주장을 전달하기 위해 명사절과 평서문이 가장 많은 분포를 차지했다. ‘주관화된 발화작용’ 텍스트이지만 명사절과 중화된 종결어미가 쓰인 평서문은 발화작용의 출처를 삭제하는 특성을 보인다. 신문 사설 제목의 가장 두드러진 특징은 의문문과 명령문을 통한 발화작용과 대화주의 형태이다. “상호대화적 대화주의”를 드러내긴 하지만, 화자-청자 사이에 직접적인 의문이나 명령이 아니라, 화자에 의해 연출된 발화상황 안에서 행위자들의 발화작용을 전달하는 것 같은 이중 발화작용의 특징을 보여준다. 이 때 담화 안에 다른 담화가 개입하는 방식은 마치 액자 속에 다른 발화작용을 끼워 넣는 것과 같은 식이다. 신문사의 입장을 표명하는 독백 텍스트인 사설은 제목을 통해서도 충분히 논지를 알아들을 수 있게끔 본문을 요약하여 독자들에게 전달한다. 이 때 화자는 발화적 측면에서 중요한 방법들을 동원한다. 한편으로는 잠재적인 독자를 적극적인 발화참여자로 초대하기 위해 역동적인 발화상황을 만들며, 다른 한편으로는 다양한 형태의 대화주의를 연출하여 독백 텍스트에 여러 목소리의 생명력을 불러일으키는 효과를 창출한다. 사설 제목에 나타난 대화주의의 형태로 “상호담화적 대화주의”는 하나의 담화 속에 다른 담화가 개입하여 ‘발화적 이질성’을 보이는 경우이다. 이 대화주의는 발화체 안에 드러난 여러 목소리들, 관점들을 표시하거나 표시하지 않고 알아듣게 하는 기법들을 사용한다. 또한 대화주의가 드러난 제목의 정확한 이해를 위해서는 본문과의 관계가 중요한데, 이러한 “내부텍스트적 대화주의”는 제목을 통해 드러난 발화작용을 이해하는 데에 필수불가결하다.
Abstract
Editorials titles in the Korean daily press presents the interesting features of the enunciative perspective. According to the theory of polyphony, the “sujet parlant”(the journalist) does not identify with the “locuteur”, the head of the editorial (press), unlike other journalistic texts, including other texts of opinion. Based on the analysis of syntactic structures of editorial titles, we note that the enunciative representations are closely related to various types of dialogism. First, interrogative and imperative statements fall under the "interlocutif dialogism" but in an indirect way, that is to say it does not work on the same level as the enunciation. This dialogism staged by the speaker is a characteristic of editorials titles, which are not found in other titles in the press. The reader, the real receiver, assistant to a scene where the speaker requests or explicit orders his hearer, is invited to share the opinion of the speaker to ask or order with it. Then the "interdiscursive dialogism" manifests itself in different forms: reported speech, “textual island” or allusion. By hearing other voices, even publica vox, these methods serve as input for the speaker to give more support to his speech. Finally, the "intratextual dislogism" exist in the relationship between the title and the text. This type of dialogism jointly works in collaboration with the interlocutif dialogism, to make one better understand the enunciative mechanism presented in editorials titles.
