노자의 수사(修辭)로 살피는 정치의 본질

동양의 수사는 예로부터 내려오는 도(道)의 개념을 쉽게 설명하는 역할을 할 뿐 아니라, 도의 내용을 실제 행동으로 옮기게끔 하는 역할을 한다. 정치는 두 가지 측면에서 다가가야 하는데, 하나는 사람의 잘못으로 인해 일어나는 재앙을 고쳐 바로잡는 것이고, 또 하나는 자연현상으로 인해 일어나는 재난을 극복하는 것이 된다. 다시 말해서, 정치인은 사람의 잘못으로 일어나는 인재(人災)와 자연현상으로 인해 일어나는 천재(天災) 두 가지를 모두 해결하여 국민을 위기에서 구해내야 한다. 이처럼 인재(人災)와 천재(天災)로부터 백성들을 보호하기 위해서 정치 지도자는 도(道)를 배워서 실천해야 하는데, 수사(修辭)를 통해서 도(道)가 무엇인지 쉽게 설명하려고 풀어 쓴 책이 바로 노자의 [도덕경]이다.
Abstract
Eastern rhetoric not only serves the role of explaining the concept of the Way (도 or 道) handed down from ancient times, but also plays a crucial role in translating the content of the Way into actual behavior. Politics should be approached from two perspectives: one is correcting and rectifying disasters caused by human errors, and the other is overcoming disasters arising from natural phenomena. In other words, a politician must address both human-made disasters (인재 or 人災) caused by people's mistakes and natural disasters (천재 or 天災) arising from natural phenomena, in order to rescue the people from crises. In order to protect the people from both human-made disasters (인재 or 人災) and natural disasters (천재 or 天災), political leaders must learn and put into practice the Way (도 or 道). Laozi's [Tao Te Ching] is a book written through rhetoric (수사 or 修辭), aiming to easily explain what the Way is.
