초록
The purpose of this study is to observe the distributional characteristics of arguments, and to analyze their movement operations by comparing the infinitival constructions between English verbs “believe/consider” and French verb “croire”. We can describe their distributional characteristics as follows: We can conclude from these results that English verb “consider” is more similar to the French counterpart “croire” than “believe” from the structural point of view. In particular, the grammaticality of a sentence depends not only on the existence or not of TP in infinitival constructions, but also on the lexical realization or not of the embedded subject in small clauses. Finally, we verify that the HNPS plays an important role in small clauses of French “croire”, but there is no evidence of this phonological operation in English “consider”-clause.
