시베리아 지역은 3․1운동이후의 항일 독립운동의 주요거점이 되었으며, 한국교회의 해외선교의 주요지역으로서 한국교회사에 있어서도 중요한 의미를 지니고 있다. 시베리아 선교에 있어서 조선남감리회는 적극적이고 가장 오래까지 시베리아 선교를 담당하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 일차자료를 면밀히 고찰하고 적극적으로 인용하면서 1920-1931년 사이 조선남감리회의 시베리아 선교의 준비과정과 선교사업, 그리고 선교 중단의 원인 등을 중심으로 조선남감리회 시베리아 선교의 전모를 연구한다. 이러한 연구를 통하여 종래의 연구에서 아직까지 언급되지 않았거나 상세하지 못한 다음의의 몇 가지 점들을 새롭게 조명해 낼 수 있었다. 첫째, 시베리아 선교의 동기에 대하여 지리적, 역사적, 민족적 여러 면에서 고찰하는 것 외에 램버트 감독의 “총괄적인 감리교 협공전략”이라는 새로운 시각을 제기한다. 둘째, 시베리아 선교에서의 여성사업은 최나오미 선교사가 파송되면서부터가 아니라 시베리아 선교의 시작부터 “전도부인”들을 통해 착수되었다는 점을 규명한다. 셋째, 시베리아 선교의 중단원인에 대해 소비에트의 종교관과 종교법 및 당시 소비에트 정치․경제․외교상황에 근거하여 보다 구체적으로 규명한다. 넷째, 시베리아 선교의 중단은 소비에트의 박해가 직접적인 요인이기는 하지만 한인사회의 붕괴도 관건적인 영향을 미쳤다는 점을 새롭게 제기한다.
Abstract
Siberia was one of the main base for Anti-Japanese independence movement of Korea after the Samil Movement, was also the main area of foreign missions of Korea church, has an important meaning in history of Korea church. In Siberia mission, the Methodist Episcopal Church of South was far longer in charge of the Siberia mission. Therefore, this study closely and actively cites to investigate the primary data, It throws to study the whole affair of Siberia mission of Methodist Episcopal Church of South in 1920-1931, by focusing on the preparation and work and discontinuance cause. Through this study newly raised the following few points in previous studies has not been mentioned or did not detail. a. About the motives of Siberia mission, in addition to study geographical historical ethnic aspects, raises a new perspective what Bishop Lambuth's “A grand Methodist pincer movement.”b. Investigate the women work of Siberia mission is from the beginning of Siberia mission by "Bible Women", wasn't the from being of to sent Choe-naohmi. c. More specifically to determine cause of the interruption of the Siberia mission based on the Soviet religion and religious law and politics, economy, diplomatic. d. The direct cause of discontinuance of Siberia mission is the persecution of Soviet, but newly raised the collapse of the Korean emigrants community also had a key influence.
