치유의례가 실행(수행)하는 실재에 관한 연구

논리실증주의에 의해 전개된 이상적 언어이론은 언어의 이해에 있어서 사실에 근거한 증명의 중요성을 강조하는 것에 반해 일상 언어는 실재에 관한 분명한 인식을 왜곡함으로 실재에 관한 이해를 오도 할 수 있음으로 언어의 개혁이 필요하다고 한다. 이런 주장에 근거한 이상적 언어이론은 일상생활에서 사용되는 언어는 세상의 실재를 분명하게 기술할 수 없다고 주장한다. 이에 반해 일상 언어이론은 언어의 진정한 의미를 구별하는 것은 증명에 관한 문제가 아니라 실재에 관한 일상적 사용에 있다고 주장한다. 일상 언어학파에 속한 오스틴(J. L. Austin)은 실행(수행) 언어이론을 전개하며, 사실로서가 아니라 사건으로서 치유의례에서 실행되는 것에 관한 것을 분석할 수 있는 중요한 언어이론을 제시한다. 즉, 치유의례의 발언은 어떤 상태나 사실에 관해서 서술하는 것이 아니라 어떤 것을 실행하는 행위인 것이다. 이런 의미에서, 치유의례의 발화행위는 단순히 치유에 관한 이론을 서술하는 것도 아니고 치유의례 참여자의 치유에 관한 신앙을 표현하는 것도 아니다. 치유의례의 발화행위는 안수와 도유와 함께 치유의례 참여자의 심리적, 영적, 육체적 치유를 실행한다. 치유의례의 발화행위는 자연과학적 사실에 근거한 것이 아니라 언어사건으로서 질병으로 손상된 관계를 삼위하나님의 돌보심의 관계로 회복하고, 강화하게 한다. 치유의례의 발화행위가 실행하는 실재에 관한 본 연구는 의례화(ritualization)와 의례효율성(ritual efficacy) 두 방법론을 통해 신앙공동체와 치유의례의 대상자간에 발생하는 치유의례의 과정과 치유의례의 결과에 관하여 연구하고자 한다. 이를 통해 치유의례의 실재에 관한 연구는 육체적 치료에만 관심을 기울이는 치유의례의 역기능과 함께 육체적 치료의 가능성을 배제하고 감성적, 심리적 치유만을 강조하는 치유의례에 관해 비평적 사유를 하고자 한다.
Abstract
The ideal language theory developed by Logical Positivism that argues the importance of verification in terms of fact in understanding of language, sees ordinary language as obstructing a clear view on reality, so that it is thought to be vague, misleading, and thus stands in need of reform. The ideal language views ordinary language which is a use-based theory meaning, does not represent the world as it really is. For ordinary language, however, the distinction did not rest on issues of verification, but on the view of commonsense views about reality. The theory of performative or speech-acts developed by J. L. Austin in the school of ordinary language philosophy leads us recognize what is happening in healing ritual as an event, not as a fact, which is not a kind of utterance of describing some state of affairs or facts, but a kind of utterance as doing. In that sense, the utterances in healing ritual are neither simply describing doctrines about healing, nor the expressions of the participant’s own faith on healing. The performative utterances in healing ritual along with laying hands and anointing are doing something in restoration of psychological, spiritual, as well as physical healing. The healing ritual as of an event, not as a fact as of natural science, will bring about a new state of the sick who are enabled, even through the illness toward a renewing and strengthening relationship under the caring of the Trinitarian God. This study about reality of healing ritual will utilize two methods of ritualization and ritual efficacy through which the process of what is happening to the sick and the faith community, and the efficacy of healing efficacy as a result of healing ritual will be examined. The reality of healing ritual also will lead us to critically review not only dysfunctions healing ritual only focusing on physical healing, but comprehending of healing ritual only in a way of emotionally, psychologically healing without a possible expectation of physical healing.
