존 칼빈의 개혁교리를 통한 그리스도인의 삶의 원리

개혁주의 신학연구에 있어서, 존 칼빈의 교리가 차지하는 비중과 중요성은 칼빈 사후 500 여 년간 신학자들의 연구결과를 통해 그 가치가 입증되었다. 그러나 이러한 칼빈 교리의 신학적, 실천적 우수성에도 불구하고 현대에 들어서 그리스도인의 삶과 관련해 칼빈의 교리가 갖는 그 본래성이 심각하게 훼손되고 있다는 우려가 제기되고 있다. 칼빈 교리의 신학 원리는 로마 가톨릭교회의 교권주의 또는, 교회 정치적 교의학과는 분명한 차이를 두고 있다. 또한, 전통적 교리주의(보수적 교리주의)의 ‘인지적’(cognitive) 교리 이해와 자유주의 신학의 ‘경험적 표현주의’(empirical expressionism) 이론과도 격을 달리하고 있다. 교회개혁을 주창한 칼빈의 교리는 하나님의 구원을 중심으로 한 성경에 나타난 예수 그리스도 계시의 복음에 그 바탕을 두고 있다. 그리고 궁극적으로는 교회개혁이라는 대의와 함께 교회의 구성원이 되는 신자 개인의 신앙과 삶의 질을 유지하고 향상시키는 데 그 의의가 있다. 올바른 그리스도인들에게 있어서 하나님의 거룩한 교리에 대한 삶으로의 실천은 선택이 아닌 그리스도의 구속의 사랑에 빚진 자로서의 거룩한 책무요 응답인 것이다. 칼빈의 교회개혁은 교회의 외적 부흥에 있지 않다. 하나님의 진리를 통해 과연 우리가 어떻게 세상 속에서 올바른 그리스도인으로 살아갈 것인가? 에 대한 물음과 그것에 대한 응답으로서 칼빈의 교리가 존재하는 것이다.
Abstract
The significance of John Calvin's theological contributions for Reformed doctrines has been proven through the theological reflections of many theologians over 500 years after Calvin's death. However, despite the theological and practical excellence of Calvin's theological thoughts for Reformed doctrines, some concerns are being raised due to the originality of Calvin's doctrine in which relates to Christian life is being seriously downplayed in modern times. The theological principles of Calvin for Reformed Doctrines are clearly different from the Roman Catholic Church's ecclesiastical or church political dogma. In addition, there are vivid difference between Calvin’s Reformed doctrines and the 'cognitive' doctrinal understanding of traditional doctrinalism (conservative doctrinalism) as well as the 'empirical expressionism' theory of liberal theology. Calvin's doctrinal understandings for the reformation of the Church is based on the gospel of the revelation of Jesus Christ in the Bible which is centered on God's salvation. Ultimately, it aims to help a believer who is the member of church to maintain and grow one’s faith and quality of life along with the mission for the Church’s reformation. For solid Christians, constructive practice through the divine doctrines of God is not an option, but a sacred duty as well as a response to the new life given through the redemptive work of Christ. For Calvin, the ultimate goal of church reformation is not the external growth of the church. The real value of Calvin's Reformed Doctrine lies in the sincere question of the way to live as a true Christian through the truth of God and providing appropriate answers.
