유아의 자연물에 대한 가치판단과 태도

본 연구에서는 만 4,5세 유아 80명을 대상으로 호랑이, 토끼, 지렁이, 나무, 해바라기, 풀, 해, 달, 구름, 돌, 흙, 등 11가지 자연물에 관한 심층면접을 실시하여 자연물에 대한 유아들의 가치판단과 태도를 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 유아들은 자연물을 유아기적 사고에 의한 가치, 유용성 여부에 따라 도구적 가치, 자연물의 속성에 따른 감정, 자연물 개체의 특성, 생명을 중시하고 자연물을 의인화하는 탈인간 중심적 윤리 등에 따라 자연과 공존하려는 전체주의적 가치관을 갖고 있음을 확인하였으며, 돌봄을 윤리로 자연물의 가치를 판단하는 경향을 보였다. 즉, 유아들은 가치를 판단함에 있어 한 가지의 뚜렷한 가치판단 준거를 가지고 가치를 평가하기보다는 각 자연물에 따라 각기 다른 가치판단 준거를 가지고 그 이유를 설명하였다. 또한, 자연물에 대한 태도에서는 남아의 경우 호랑이를 가장 선호하였고 여아는 토끼를 가장 선호하는 성별차이가 나타났으며, 비선호도에서는 만 4세의 경우 호랑이를, 만 5세는 지렁이를 가장 선호하지 않는 연령별 차이가 나타났다. 한편, 유아들의 자연물에 대한 태도에서 동물을 다른 자연물 범주보다 더 많이 선택하는 것은 실생활에서 토끼, 호랑이, 지렁이 등 동물과 더 밀접하게 상호작용하며 교감하기 때문인 것으로 파악되었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine 4-5 years old children's attitudes and values to natural objects. For this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 80 children respectively, ranking 11 nature objects that tiger, rabbit, earthworm, tree, sunflower, grass, sun, moon, cloud, stone, and earth in order of value and preference. Firstly, young children evaluated the natural objects in the viewpoint of instrumentalism and utility, judged by their individual characteristics emotionally, and personified the nature things in nonanthropocentric values. And some children showed attitudes on nature in the harmony with human being ecologically and from caring perspective. Secondly, the preference to natural objects was a significant difference between genders. Most of girls answered that they preferred a rabbit, and most of the boys preferred a tiger. The negative preference to natural objects was that most of the boys and girls disliked an earthworm and a tiger.
