Abstract

transforming research methods and tools in traditional humanities research, with a particular emphasis on the importance of digital data construction and analysis in East Asian classical studies, including Han-character works. Digital data, tools, analysis, and interpretation have the potential to complement and expand traditional research methods, while also increasing the efficiency of research. In various academic fields, digital humanities have already become an important methodology, not merely a technological introduction, but one that deepens research and enables creative interpretation. However, recent studies still show shortcomings in interpretations from a humanistic perspective, and our academic ecosystem also shows insufficient preparedness. The ability to utilize and critically interpret expertise related to Han-character works and various digital data from a humanistic perspective is a key competence for future professionals in Chinese character literature. To achieve this, the focus of discussions should be on how to train the next generation, while designing and implementing current educational curricula. The role of contemporary educators and researchers is to cultivate the next generation of scholars as humanists with new methods and perspectives, based on the traditions of existing humanities.
