현대중국어 ‘给’의 경동사 기능에 관한 소고(小考)

The purpose of this study is to suggest the light verb function of modern Chinese gei. In modern Chinese, gei is not only used as a verb, but is also grammaticalized as a preposition and performs various functions. It’s very often for gei to appear just before the verb phrase(henceforth “gei+VP”) in spoken Chinese, but there are currently many disagreements on this structure, so the function of gei in “gei+VP” still needs to be investigated. In the sentence including “gei+VP”, the action is expressed by VP, not gei, which can be regarded as a grammaticalized usage of gei. This phenomenon parallels the Korean auxiliary verb cwuta and the English light verb give. In this regard, this study intends to suggest that the gei in “gei+VP” is a light verb, and to discuss its validity from semantic, syntactic, and pragmatic aspects.
