Abstract

In this paper, I tried to analyse the characteristics of realizing methods of grammatical category and to elaborate on linguistic typological properties of Korean. The following are some remarkabie results that have been made in this paper. (1) Every realization of grammatical notions falls under the scope of grammatical category, whether they are expressed by means of inflectional morphemes, or other various methods. These grammatical categories are realized in various ways of phonological, lexical, derivational, inflectional and syntactic methods. (2) Among these methods, inflectional methods are the main method, while other methods are realized partially in Korean. The most natural realizing methods of grammatical category is inflectional method, and if there are not inflectional morphemes realizing grammatical concept, this category is realized by various methods. (3) If we apply the characteristics of realizing methods of grammatical category, Korean is the morphology-oriented language. On the basis of this viewpoint, we must precisely describe the morphological phenomena first, and then explain the syntactic properties in the study of Korean Grammar.
