Abstract

In this paper, I will give some suggestions about norm of the representation of loanwords. First, the voiceless plosives of French, Italian, Spanish and Russian, etc should be represented by the Korean unaspirated letters. Second, the habitual usage should be accepted. The norms against the habitual usage should be replaced. In that case, extensive investigation of language use must be performed to decide what the habitual usage really is. Third, the standard representation of loanwords should be decided mechanically not on the laws of representation of foreign words but independently. The standard representation of loanwords should be changed to the standard representation of foreign languages and the latter should be applied to the toponyms and names of foreigners.
