언어공학에 활용하기 위한 표준국어 대사전과 세종전자사전 간 용언 어의 사상

This paper proposes a methodology and an efficient process for mapping word senses of Korean predicates between two Korean monolingual dictionaries: Standard Dictionary (hereafter, STD) and Sejong Electronic Dictionary (hereafter, SJD). The construction of these dictionaries was initiated by the National Institute of the Korean Language, but they differ in philosophy, developers, period, and macro/micro information. The former, of which the users are supposed to be ordinary Koreans, has a broad coverage of entries, rich derivational and lexical relations, and it provides each word sense of entries with some definition or explanation. But its syntactic and semantic information is far from being suitable for Human-Language Technology (hereafter, HLT) applications. The latter provides language researchers with detailed and systematic information of each word sense in syntax and semantics. The coverage of entries in SJD is a lot limited. Using ① the etymology, ② the number of each entry's word senses, ③ the number of each entry's homonymes, we could automatically map a quater of the equivalent pairs, and increase the efficiency and consistency for the hand-mapping. Inspite of the pessimistic expectations presented by the developers of STD and SJD, about 23,000 word senses pairs were successfully mapped. This number exceeds 95% of the mapping candidates found in SJD. Based on this encouraging result, we have plan to supplement and extend STD and SJD, thus to construct broad and rich Korean language resources for syntactic and semantic processing systems.
