Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine team learning behavior, team effectiveness, and team transactive memory in large corporations. The population of this research is basically all the teams which work for large corporations, but in this research, the subjects were the teams who work for top 300 companies listed by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, since the real number of the original population was impossible to figure out and the standard on big business was also vague. The data was collected between by post mail, and e-mail. The total of 396 questionnaires from the 95 teams in 38 companies were returned. After exploring to confirm that all respondents answered the survey instrument honestly, 8 surveys were excluded from final data analysis. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 17.0 program for windows and the significance level of statistics was set on 0.05. The major findings of this study were as follows:First, the team learning behavior in large corporations is a little higher than the theoretical average, collaborative learning is the highest, and continuous improvement seeking is the lowest. Second, the team learning behavior, team effectiveness, and team transactive memory in large corporations are shown as positively correlated, and the team effectiveness is directly affected by the team learning behavior and team transactive memory. Third, the team learning behavior affects on the team effectiveness by partly mediating the team transactive memory. Based on the results of study, some recommendations for the future research were made as follows. First, a longitudinal study on the team learning behavior, the team transactive memory and the team effectiveness by the time flow is necessary. Second, a further research about the ways to facilitate the cognitive sharing in the teams is needed.
