본 논문에서는 일본 해외직접투자기업의 한국내 입지선정을 통해 투자국인 일본기업과 국내 기업들간의 상호작용을 측정히였다. 기존의 한⋅일간 무역과 산업관계를 통해 분석한 것과 달리 경제주체들의 입지선정 의사결정과정에 관한 모형을 통해 기업들의 상호작용을 전반적으로 계측함으로써 좀더 종합적인 관점에서 이들 관계를 측정할 수 있었다. 일본 해외직접투자기업들의 입지선택 유형을크게 네 가지로 분류하였다. 두드러진 것은 동일국적 동종 산업 종사 기업과의 상호작용과 투자대상국 기업과의 상호작용의 정도에 따라 산업별 지역별 입지선정유형 패턴이 달라진다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 이러한 입지유형패턴들 각각은 우리나라의 주력수출산업들과 밀접한 상호관계를 가지고있어 한⋅일간 산업별 연계관계가 밀접함을 발견할 수 있었다. 따라서 외국인직접투자를 유치하여경제를 활성화시키려는 지역정부들은 각 지역정부들의 산업적 특성에 따라 적합한 유인정책을 이용할 것과 양국간 경제발전을 위해 한국과 일본의 무역정책 입안시 양국 정책결정자들의 합리적인판단이 필요함을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The spillover effects between Japanese FDIs and the domestic companies in Korea are measured. Previous studies about the industrial relationship between two countries have focused on the trade and international input-output analysis. However, this study focuses on the decision maker’s behavior. By modelling the location choice, the overall spillover effects are measured. The types of location choice of Japanese FDIs are classified four types. What is the most distinctive is that the patterns of location choice are differentiated by industry and region based on the extent of the spillover relationship between Japanese FDIs and domestic companies. And these characteristics are closely related to the industries which are major export driving industries in Korea. This suggests that the policy makers who want to revitalize their regional economy by attracting FDIs need to make their policy tailorized with their regional industrial characteritics. Furthermore, it also suggests that, to pursue the highly economic development for Korea and Japan, policy makers are required to make more reasonable trade policies between them.
