본 연구는 그간 국내 교육철학계에서 진행되어 온 정보화에 관한 논의의 흐름을 검토하고, 그것에 대한 비판적인 분석의 토대 위에서 정보통신기술에 관한 교육학적 논의의 가능성을 새로운 형태로 타진해 보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 정보화에 관한 기존의 논의들은 대개가 정보화를 교육의 바깥 혹은 주변에서 이루어지는 사회적 현상으로 간주하고 그것의 좋은 점을 이용하거나 그것의 나쁜 영향에 대처하는 방법을 논의하는 방식으로 이루어져 왔다. 최근 들어 정보화를 그 속에서 유통되는 지식의 성격과 관련지어 논의하는 흐름도 발견되고 있으나, 다른 한편으로 정보화가 이루어지게 하는 데에 결정적인 역할을 한 정보통신기술을 교육철학적 시각에서 분석하는 논의는 찾아보기가 쉽지 않다. 연구자의 관심은 정보통신기술에 대하여 그간에 이루어져 온 교육학자들의 논의가 교육방법의 측면에서 그것을 수업의 과정에 활용하는 방식에만 머무를 것이 아니라, 그것을 최근 들어 새로 이루어지고 있는 인간 교육활동의 한 형태로 파악하고 그 자체를 교육철학적 탐구의 대상으로 삼는 일이 가능한지를 탐색하는 데 있다.
Abstract
The main purpose of this essay is to analyze the current of discussions for over the last 10 years by philosophers of education about the effects of what can be called 'informationalization', and examine the possibility of making an educational-philosophical investigation about information-communication technology as a new way to theoretically looking at the issue. The existing discussions about 'informationalization' by philosophers of education are mainly focused on the ways how to deal with this social change, positively and negatively, while regarding it as a phenomenon happening outside the arena of educational activities. Although recently a new form of discussion is found that views it from the perspective of the idea of knowledge assumed in this social change, it still does not seriously look at another very important element of 'informationalization', namely information-communication technology. My concern in this essay is to search for the possibility of regarding information-communication technology not just as a new effective method to improve the process of instruction, but as a type of new educational activity itself that recently came to our view, and discussing about it as itself an object of educational-philosophical discussions.
