Abstract
This study presents tendency of convergence in 233 regional labor productivity from 2000 to 2005 by using panel data of mining and manufacturing industry in Korea. This analysis uses well known Barro and Sala-i-Martin (1991)'s absolute β-convergence and conditional convergence with and without considering capital investment accumulation, human capital accumulation, labor growth, depreciation, and technological progress to analyze the difference of absolute convergence and conditional convergence. Along with absolute and conditional convergence, this analysis applies spatial regression analysis and geographically weighted regression to consider the spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity among regions. According to the results, this study shows that capital investment accumulation, human capital accumulation, labor growth, depreciation, and technological progress should act as an additional variables to explain regional convergence of labor productivity. And when it comes to consider spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity among regions, convergence of labor productivity tends to be concentrated into each region not spread out. Finally this study has an implication that capital investment accumulation affects to regional convergence of labor productivity more than human capital accumulation.
