교육은 어떤 일정한 유형의 방법들의 이용을 통하여 지식을 조장하거나 전달하는 것을 수반한다. 비록 이러한 교육의 철학적 역할은 쉽게 동의하게 되지만 어떤 지식이 바람직하고 왜 지식이 신장되어야 하며, 그리고 어떤 방법이나 과정으로 지식이 신장되어야 하는가는 교육에서 야기될 수 있는 문제들이므로 철학적 고찰을 필요로 한다. 이 논문의 목적은 제4세대 평가/연구에서 말하는 구성주의 패러다임을 포스트모던 이전의 과학 패러다임과 비교/음미하여, 교육(학)연구에서의 이분법이 잘못되었다는 것을 보여주므로 교육철학에서의 방법을 탐구하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 첫째 교육(학)연구의 다양성, 둘째, 연구자들이 철학적 함정 속으로 빠져들게 하는 과학과 철학의 잘못된 이원론 그리고 셋째, 과학 패러다임과 구성주의 패러다임의 철학적 가정을 고찰한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show that the dualism in educational research is mistaken and how to do philosophy of education with respect to Guba & Lincoln's fourth generation evaluation, In order to do these, first of all, I shall illustrate the variety of educational research. Second, I shall carefully look at (a) the false dichotomy between science and philosophy that researchers have fallen into a philosophical trap, and (b) compare the 'scientific paradigm'(paradigm A) and the 'constructivist paradigm'(paradigm B). Third, I shall examine the philosophical assumptions which lie behind the scientific paradigm and the constructivist paradigm.
